I’m your guide to Coach you in front of the camera to make you look your best

In this post, I’ll be your guide to coaching you in front of the camera, helping you look your best. I have launched this little survey about how you feel about having your photograph taken and why. While most of you don’t mind having your picture taken, what is holding you back is the uncertainty of how to pose in front of the camera, the lack of ease or professionalism in your photos, or simply not looking confident. That is why I wanted to write this blog post to reassure you, I’m your guide to Coach you in front of the camera.

1. As a portrait photographer, it’s my job to make you look at your best

As I explained in the previous blog post, looking confident in front of the camera starts well before your photoshoot.

  • Clarity is key to a successful photo shoot. If you know what you want from your pictures and can explain it, then communicating with the photographer will be much easier. They will be able to translate your vision into reality for you to start living in those memories as soon as possible!
  • You will feel more confident in front of the camera if you get involved with the creative process. How? I invite you to read the blog post about five steps to planning a stunning portrait photoshoot.
  • Your style is something you’ve always had, and it will never change! Choose a wardrobe that makes you feel the most at ease and confident. If formal isn’t your forte, don’t force yourself to wear it! You are unique– let your clothing show that in your portraits! What you’re wearing will set the tone for the whole photoshoot, so choose wisely.

2. As your portrait photographe,r I’m there to coach and guide in front of the camera

Honestly, no one knows what they’re doing when it comes to being in front of a camera. First things first, we tend to freeze when we see one. We then get stuck in our head as we try to figure out how I look. What does my nose look like? And while all these questions race through our minds, they continue racing without knowing because we become so self-conscious!

You will forget that you are being photographed and become less self-conscious when your portrait photographer engages in a conversation with you, guides and coaches in front of the camera, telling you exactly what to do. You might not get it at first, but that is fine; your photographer is there to demonstrate it for you. You will soon get the hang of it and enjoy the experience instead.

Having your portrait taken should be a fun experience where you get to have photos that you’re happy with, looking confident and at ease in front of the camera. This is where I help you during your portrait photoshoot by guiding and coaching you to relax and focus on the experience when standing in front of the camera.
