In this post, I’m sharing 10 art exhibitions not to miss in 2025. Hi, lovely readers, I hope you had a great start to 2025. Although I must say, the year is off to a crazy start. Don’t even get me started on what’s going on on the political side; weird stuff is starting to emerge. It’s getting even worse before 21 January 2025. Let’s put the political issue to the side for now.

It’s no secret that I’m getting quite old. Each December I realise how time flies and how easy it is to let the year go by if you don’t have any set goals. It is easy to lose track of everything you wanted to do that year if you don’t plan for it. Here I’m starting the year with a list of exhibitions that I would love to see this year. Here are my top 10 not to miss.

1) Louvre couture, at the Louvre – Paris

I have a feeling that it is going to be exceptional. The Louvre is an outstanding place for a fashion exhibition. It will feature art and fashion items throughout history. It opens on 24 January and closes on 21 July.

2) Brazil: Brazil, the Birth of Modernism at the Royal Academy – London

The exhibition will run from 28 January to 21 April. It will feature 20th-century artists and painters from Brazil. With artists like Anita Malfatti and Lasar Segall. Many of these artists will be exhibited for the first time in the UK. This will be a great chance to learn about artists from a lesser-known continent.

3) Leah Miller at the Tate Britain – London

Even though this exhibition will open in October, I can’t wait to visit this retrospective of her work. This will be a major photography exhibition featuring a lifespan of photographs, from her fashion, surrealist work, and war photography. It’s on from 2 October 2025 to 15 February 2026.

4) José María Velasco: A View of Mexico, The National Gallery, London.

Another exhibition dedicated to South American painters. It will feature José Maria Velasco, one of Mexico’s most celebrated landscape painters. The exhibition aims to show his works in the context of the country’s economy and history. It’s opening on 29 March and running until 17 August.

5) Marie Antoinette style at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London

The Victoria and Albert Museum is one of my favourites in London. Their fashion-related exhibition is always a feast for the eyes. With a sparkle of inspiration for any creative or artist. The Marie Antoinette Style will feature her as a fashion icon. It will show how her style has endured. It’s opening on Saturday, 20 September.

6) New Photography of 2025 – Lines of Belonging Moma, New-York

A significant photography exhibition for 2025. This exhibition will show a narrative by 13 photographers from 4 different cities. Intertwined with a narrative exposing a sense of belonging to a community. It will be on from 16 September to 21 January 2026.

7) Les Rencontres de la photo d’Arles – Arles

I have talked about this photography exhibition in a recent post about the city of Arles. Not only do you get to visit a gorgeous town, but also to see 4200 artworks spanning over 13000 sq metres. Arles is the place to be for the latest news about contemporary photography. I had the chance to visit in 2011, even though contemporary photography is not always my taste. I had a fantastic opportunity to learn from and be inspired by artists’ work that I wouldn’t have seen. The exhibition is opening on 7 July.

8) Cecil Beaton: Fashionable World – At the National Portrait Gallery – London

This is the first major exhibition dedicated to this photographer. Cecil Beaton was a fashion photographer, but most of his work looks like a piece of art. This is going to be a fantastic exhibition and I can’t wait for it. I love Cecil’s photography. Some of my favourite portraits are: Audrey Hepburn in Rome, standing over the city; a bold portrait of Maria Callas; and a very intimate portrait of the Queen holding baby Anne, with Prince Charles next to her. It will be on from October 2025 to January 2026.

9) Artemisia Gentileschi at the Musée Jaquemart in Paris

I’m so excited for this one. Artemisia is a woman artist who has inspired me and continues to do so. She was the trigger behind my photography art series, Women in Quiet Rebellion. I have seen many exhibitions dedicated to her work. I can’t wait to revisit some of her boldest paintings in the flesh. The exhibition is on from 19 March 2025.

10) Cezanne 2025 at the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence

A major retrospective in the hometown of this world-wide celebrated artist. This exhibition will feature the work Cézanne did at his home studio, the Manor, between 1860 and 1899. If you can only attend one this year, do this one. It will be on from 28 June 2025 to 12 October.

When I look at the list, he seems very ambitious; I would love to attend every one of these exhibitions. But I know I won’t. Like me, select 3-4 that will be your must-see. Cézanne is among these. Every time I visit an art retrospective or exhibition, I leave with a sparkle in my eyes and renewed inspiration. It’s a mere change from a world stuck in digital screening. So let’s be less screen-focused in 2025 to dedicate more time to being art-focused. What do you think? Please share any major exhibitions I should attend.

PS. Until 31 March, don’t miss the Dolce and Gabbana exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris. I’m planning to attend this one as I love Dolce and Gabbana’s fashion. It’s so baroque! With over 200 creations featured, that’s gonna be a feast for these eyes and incredible inspiration. I will plan that Paris trip soon, as promised.
